While traveling in South East Asia in her early twenties, Maae Jewelry founder and designer Gillian Johnson discovered and learned the art of jewelry making. Over the next several years she returned frequently to Asia and turned her skills and talents to the conception and design of jewelry. In 2007 she created Maae Jewelry (meaning mother in Thai) to bring her exquisite pieces to women who share her love of quality, beauty, and craftsmanship.

Gillian Johnson’s designs also reflect her profound appreciation of the natural world and the resilience of the human spirit. The combinations of color, shape, and texture that make each of her pieces as unique as they are beautiful are the result of a journey that has taken her throughout the world in search of sensual and imaginative inspiration. Wherever possible the metals and stones in Maae Jewelry are sourced and shaped by the traditional artisans in whose great tradition she proudly stands.
